Money Paid Diyat Rp 4.7 billion, Darsem in Exempt From Law Qisas

Jakarta - Money diyat Rp 4.7 billion for Darsem Embassy inRiyadh has been paid into court. The judge had already signed aletter of release Darsem of the death penalty.

"3 The judge in the court has made a free decision qisas," saidForeign Ministry spokesman, Michael Tene in his statement on Saturday (06/25/2011).

Payments are made official today by the Embassy to theemployer's family Darsem through the head of the Islah Laznahdiyat care.

"It has been officially handed over a check diyat. Thus qisas setfree from the judge's decision," explained Michael.


Darsem convicted man had killed his employer in Saudi Arabia.The killing had to be done in an attempt to defend himself because the man would rape her, in December 2008. By the courts of Saudi Arabia, he was sentenced to death.

Embassy in Riyadh to lobby, so that families are willing toforgive Darsem with "blood money" which is quite high, Rp 4.7billion. This money from the budget of the Foreign Ministrydirogoh RI.
