Jakarta - Climatology Meteorological and Geophysics Agency(BMKG) urged people not to panic and worry about the 8.7-Richterearthquake prediction (SR) in Jakarta. Location Jakarta far from the point of the earthquake, but the community must remain vigilant.
"Not in Jakarta, no. People do not panic," said Head of OperationsDevelopment of Earthquake and Tsunami Jaya Murjaya whenconfirmed on Monday (5/16/2011).
Jaya explains, what the President of Disaster Expert Staff, Andi Ariefabout 8.7 magnitude quake, he sure is not meant in Jakarta.
"Indonesia is prone to earthquakes, in the Sunda Strait and Sumatra,there had once been a large earthquake, but perulangannya we do not know when, can not be predicted. And Jakarta far," he explained.
Community asked to calm down, he believed the Special Staff ofAndi Arief did not mean to make a worry. "I believe the point is notso," he said.
