VP to close Muhammadiyah congress

Vice President Boediono is scheduled to close the national congress and centennial commemoration of Muhammadiyah in Yogyakarta on Thursday.
  
Newly appointed Muhammadiyah secretary general Agung Danarto will read out the results of the congress during the closing ceremony, which is slated to start at 9 a.m.

Reelected Muhammadiyah chairman Din Syamsuddin, Yogyakarta governor Sultan Hamengku Buwono X and Boediono will deliver their remarks, before the Vice President declares the congress closed.



Din was unanimously elected for the chief post of the country’s second largest Islamic organization on Wednesday and will serve for the coming five years. The congress also elected 12 members of the Muhammadiyah executive board, who include former finance minister Bambang Sudibyo, former education minister Abdul Malik Fajar and Regional Representative Council member AM Fatwa.
