From Paris With Love: Ready for some retro-style action thrills? Jonathan Rhys Meyers stars as James Reece, the personal aide to the U.S. ambassador to France who moonlights as a low-level CIA operative. Itching for a more exciting assignment away from the desk, he gets his wish when he is teamed with Charlie Wax (John Travolta), a bald badass with a quick trigger finger and questionable tactics sent to Paris to stop a terrorist attack. Wax and Reece’s wild ride through the City of Light in director Pierre Morel’s surprisingly fun, twisty action flick is Travolta’s best, most out-there role in years—just how you like him. Extras: Both the DVD and Blu-ray contain “Spies, Spooks and Special Ops: Life Under Cover” and “Secrets of Spy Craft: Inside the International Spy Museum.” Blu-ray Bob’s Verdict: Rent Me
Power Kids: If your idea of fun is watching pint-sized kids knock people around and Kick-Ass can’t come to disc soon enough, this martial arts comedy from Thailand might be the distraction you crave. With his brother, Wun, dying and in desperate need of a heart transplant, a young boy and his friends storm a hospital that has been taken over by terrorists because it houses the only compatible heart in the area. The kids have four hours to get the heart back to Wun and use all their Thai boxing skills to take down anyone who stands in their way. Extras: Both the DVD and Blu-ray contain a short making-of documentary and a behind-the-scenes featurette that highlights the many injuries that occurred while making the film. Blu-ray Bob’s Verdict: Rent Me
Nip/Tuck: The Sixth and Final Season: It’s all over for plastic-surgeon partners Dr. Sean McNamara (Dylan Walsh) and Dr. Christian Troy (Julian McMahon), but this acclaimed FX series sure has been a wild and wonderful ride. The two doctors struggle with myriad personal issues and changing attitudes toward cosmetic surgery as they try to make a name for their practice in Los Angeles. Christian loves his best friend, but the only way to make him happy might be for Christian to send Sean far away from Christian’s poisonous playboy ways. Extras: Warner Bros. only released one season (four) of Nip/Tuck on Blu-ray before reverting to DVD only as it does with this set, which is a shame. Here’s to hoping the entire series will be released in high definition soon. This DVD set has the “Tell Me What You Don’t Like About Yourself: The Psychology Behind Plastic Surgery” featurette. Blu-ray Bob’s Verdict: Rent Me
